Backcountry skiing is one my favourite things to do during the winter months. As long as the snow is stable and the slopes are steep there is nowhere else I’d rather be. On a quick visit to Calgary I got out skiing with my good friend Sean for a few laps on Parker Ridge and Hilda Ridge. Higher up the snow was really wind blasted but down in the trees it was nice and soft. We stayed at the Hilda Ridge Hostel right off the Icefields Parkway, it is a great place to stay during winter and I’ll definitely plan some more trips there in the future.
