2009-09-19 Apache Peak via E. Ledges

Jamie, Neil (her cousin), and I went hiking today out in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. The IPW is an amazing location and with the fall colours in force it was looking gorgeous today! The route to Apache is really nice, it starts off easy with a 2mi hike to Isabelle Lake and the swiftly goes off trail.

I think our ascent was off route a little (it’s on the right on the map below) but we still made it to the East Ledges with little problem. From there it was an easy scramble up the ledges to the ridge then up the ridge to the summit.

We had hoped to do the traverse to Navajo while we were up there but we had dawdled a little and were running out of time. We took a straighter line in the descent and made a little better time on the way down.

Great pictures – and what beautiful scenery. So nice compared to the heavy rains we’ve had for over a week.
    Great photography also.
    Thanks for sending.
Really looking forward to Halloween weekend :).
